High quality earphones July 23, 2009 Dr Nick (Sheffield, S Yorks United Kingdom) 32 out of 34 found this review helpful
I'm a bit of a music buff, so I am very clear about the quality of what I use.
Previously I stuck with Sony Fontopia, which I've had for some time. Decent, but they're wearing out. And the short cable is annoying.
These Sennheisers have one significant thing over the Sonys:
They are MUCH LOUDER!!!!
I've got my mp3 player on half the previous volume, and cut the bass, and they're still booming loud.
And very clear.
The only problem is, I can hear my footsteps if the earbuds are fully in, so I have to fiddle a bit.
But these are seriously good headphones.
Wow! July 18, 2009 Ian Williams (Sunderland, UK) 29 out of 31 found this review helpful
First time I've ever used this manufacturer's ear phones but it certainly won't be the last. The machine is my 160Gb Ipod Classic. The earpieces fitted perfectly snugly into (wait for it) my ears and then I began with a test to destruction.
Neil Young (with guest Chrissie Hynd's) balls against the wall sonic assault on 'All Along The Watchtower' on loud and it just about fried my brain. This is a good thing. Despite the volume everything came over perfectly and, yes, the bass, was great.
Next up Lady Gaga's 'I like it rough' for a synthesiser test. Perfect.
Next up a little Blues courtesy my main man Lightnin' Slim. Man, I coulda been in the studio down on the bayou.
Finally Fotheringay (Sandy Denny's) 'Banks of the Nile', as delicate and haunting a piece of folk-rock as has ever been heard. And, yes, even this oh so familiar piece had just the faintest extra resonance.
Oh yes, these are good and do what they say they do. Sennheiser CX 300-II ECO Noise-Isolating Ear-Canal Phones - Black rock!
UPDATE
I have a painting, a still life done by a member of the family and it's over a hundred years old. I've lived with it so long that I just stopped seeing it. Then my wife had it renovated. Essentially, the top layer was taken off revealing details and techniques I'd never noticed before.
After using these earphones for nearly a week now the same sort of thing has happened to all my old favourite tracks. I hear them with a clarity and depth I'd never heard or noticed before, making them sound fresh and new.
I will never buy earphones again unless they're by Sennheiser.
A complete convert to Sennheiser July 23, 2009 R. WEST-SOLEY (Birmingham, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Like many people, I've usually made to with cheaper sets of headphones for my iPod, never forking out more than a tenner for a pair. But giving this set a go has completely reformed my headphone habits - the difference in sound quality is amazing. I listen to a lot of different musical styles on my iPod, and in every case, the clarity across the whole range from low to high is fantastic. Bass lovers will be happy to hear that the low tones are booming, while classical fans will enjoy the perfect reproduction of tones across the whole range. The ear buds do a great job of noise isolation, cutting all but the loudest of outside noise.
You'd expect no less from Sennheiser, and the little extra cost is definitely justified by the improvement in your sound experience - I'm a total convert.
The best headphones I have ever had July 23, 2009 Ian Shine (England) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I had previously owned a pair of Philips noise-isolating headphones similar to these. While they did keep out external sounds, the problem with them was the huge battery pack attached to the wires that operated the noise isolation vacuum.
These Sennheiser are just as good, if not better, at keeping out external sounds, but don't have the battery pack.
They also sit really snugly in your ear, come with a three different size attachable ear-heads so that they will fit comfortably in most ears, and have a simple but classy little carry case keep them clean and proteceted.
When headphones enhance your appreciation of your music, they have done their job. These headphones do that more than any other pair I have ever had, and on that count I wholly recommend them.
Brilliant headphones April 2, 2010 Jennifer Malsingh (Bristol, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
These are fantastic headphones, and I will keep buying them every time I need more!
What I like about them is the comfortable way they fit in my ear. They come with some different size heads, so they should fit most ears. Once you put them in, they stay in, unlike many headphones which fall out all the time. I wear them a lot whilst cycling, walking, working out and so on, so this is important.
Secondly, they sound really great. They don't block out all background noise (which I wouldn't want anyway, as I need to be able to hear traffic), but they do reduce it considerably. The main point is that they bring the sound a lot closer to your ears (does that make sense?!) so you don't have to have the volume up as loud to get great sound. This saves on battery life and must also be better for your ears. They also have great bass.
The only downside is that they are not indestructable. Though they are by no means delicate, they do eventually wear out. But you know what? They're not that expensive, and since I use them a lot everyday and they get dragged in and out of my pockets and bags and so on, I would rather buy a new pair every four months or so than worry about damaging a really expensive pair.
